  Faculty Biography


Leah Peterson, MD


Dr. Peterson joined the Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency Program as Associate Director in 2015. Dr. Peterson received a B.S. in Cell Biology from the University of Kansas in 2008 and her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2012.

Dr. Peterson is a member of the AAFP, KAFP, and the Saline County Medical Society. She has a special interest in women's and children's health, as well as critical care medicine.

Dr. Peterson grew up in Salina. She is married to Jake Peterson, an attorney (and former Swedish Folk Dancer) who wears a lot of green ties. They have two adorable children, Gus and ViVi. Dr. Peterson enjoys running, cooking, gardening, reading, spending time with family, and crafty pursuits.
