Residency Life

Motivation & Dedication

The program has been blessed with motivated, hard-working and dedicated residents who are committed to rural health care. They are also some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Our residents have been honored nationally with seven American Academy of Family Physicians Bristol Meyers Squibb Awards (formerly Mead Johnson Award), two Bristol Meyers Squibb Award Alternates, three Glaxo Welcome Scholars and awards for presentations at the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians annual meeting. Residents present posters at national conferences, produce publications for state and national peer-reviewed journals and participate in political activities with the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians.

Residents become an important part of the Salina community. They are active in churches, social organizations, schools and other groups. They also coordinate and present the anti-smoking Tar Wars program to area grade school students and often speak to other civic organizations. Our presence is also felt in Topeka as our residents volunteer to serve as Doctor of the Day at the Kansas Statehouse.
