  Faculty Biography


Robert Kraft, MD


Dr. Kraft joined Smoky Hill Family Medicine as Associate Director in 2004. Dr. Kraft received a B.S. in Genetics from the University of Kansas and his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Kansas City. He completed his residency at Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency Program. During medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Special interests include evidence-based medicine, resident education research and ambulatory practice improvement. He particularly enjoys teaching obstetrical ultrasound skills.


Dr. Kraft grew up in Concordia, KS. He is happily married to Carmen San Martín, and they are the proud parents of two of the cutest and most well-behaved children - Ben and Anna. Dr. Kraft enjoys family time, traveling, reading and cheering on the beloved KU Jayhawks, especially in Allen Fieldhouse.


Dr. Kraft received the 2010 Kansas Academy of Family Physician (KAFP) Exemplary Teaching Award in the full-time category. The KAFP Exemplary Teacher Award recognizes family medicine faculty members in Kansas who have demonstrated exemplary teaching skills or have developed and implemented innovative new teaching models or programs. Medical students, residents and peers nominate the family physician teachers.
