Kimberly Williams, MD
Dr. Kimberly Williams joined Smoky Hill FMRP as an Associate Director in 2010. In October of 2018, she took on the role of Program Director. Prior to joining on as faculty, she received her Bachelor of Science in General Science from York College in York, Nebraska. She then went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine- Wichita.
Dr. Williams then traveled to Pennsylvania with her husband Caleb to complete her residency at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she served as chief resident. After residency, Dr. Williams completed a one-year Fellowship in Faculty Development in Lancaster.
Dr. Williams is from Wichita and enjoys being close to family. In her spare time, Dr. Williams enjoys being active in her church, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their 3 children.
Dr. Williams is a member of the AAFP, KAFP and CMDA. Her special interests include women’s health, obstetrical care and diabetes.
Robert Kraft, MD, CEO
Dr. Robert Kraft joined Smoky Hill FMRP as an Associate Director in 2004. In 2018, he expanded his role to include Chief Medical Officer of Salina Family Healthcare. In November 2019, he became CEO. Dr. Kraft received his Bachelor of Science in Genetics from The University of Kansas and subsequently completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine- Kansas City. He then went on to complete his residency at Smoky Hill FMRP.
During medical school, Dr. Kraft was inducted into the very prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In 2010, Dr. Kraft received the Kansas Academy of Family Physician Exemplary Teaching Award in the full-time faculty category. This award recognizes family medicine faculty members in Kansas who have demonstrated exemplary teaching skills or have developed and implemented innovative new teaching models or programs.
Dr. Kraft is from Concordia, KS. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is happily married to Carmen San Martin and they are the proud parents of two. Dr. Kraft also enjoys traveling, reading, and cheering on the beloved KU Jayhawks, especially in the raucous Allen Fieldhouse.
Special interests include: ambulatory practice improvement and chronic disease management.
Amanda Rhyne, MD, CMO
Dr. Rhyne received her Bachelors at Ottawa University (Ottawa, KS) in Biology. She then graduated from The University of Kansas School of Medicine- Wichita Campus. She went on to complete her residency training at Wesley Family Medicine (Wichita, KS).
In her spare time she enjoys: going on adventures with her husband and son, watching and playing sports (go Chiefs!), and taking in TV shows like The Office, The Bachelor, and any home makeover show that is on TLC.
Danielle Blea, LCMFT, LCAC
Danielle currently serves as the Behavioral Science faculty at Smoky Hill. She completed her Masters of Science in Family Therapy at Friends University in Wichita, KS. After completing school, Danielle began her professional career providing mental health services in the areas of crisis, outpatient, and addiction to individuals, couples, and families.
Her professional interests include co-occurring disorders, couple/family therapy, and high risk patient care. As the behavioral science faculty, she assists in developing and teaching the Behavioral medicine curriculum at Smoky Hill. She also does an excellent job of supporting and evaluating residents in the advancement of their mental health knowledge and clinical interviewing skills.
Danielle is passionate about integrated health care, holistic options for disease/illness management, and improving systems to aid patients. During her down time, she can typically be found with a book on the patio or traveling to a new destination.
Mariah Crumbaker, MD
Mariah Crumbaker, MD, is a native of Beloit, Kansas. Her childhood experience as a farm kid sparked her interest in becoming a physician.
Her path to becoming a doctor began at Kansas University and Bethany College for her undergraduate degree, followed by Medical School at the University of Kansas – Kansas City. She completed a 4 year residency in Family Practice with a Maternal Child Health Fellowship at John Peter Smith Residency in Fort Worth, Texas. She then practiced in her hometown of Beloit doing rural family medicine for 5.5 years before transitioning to faculty at Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Crumbaker especially enjoys Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Rural medicine. Her favorite part of being a physician is caring for women (and their babies) during and after pregnancy as well as the continued learning medicine requires. Dr. Crumbaker would like patients to know that, as a new Salina resident, she’s excited to combine her love of obstetrics and rural medicine to train new physicians to practice medicine in other rural areas of the state.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Crumbaker loves to spend time with her husband, Dr. Mark Banker, and children Eli and Colette. She also loves traveling to learn about new places and cultures. During residency she traveled to Africa twice for further training and experience in surgical obstetrics. Fun fact, she even rides and competes in dressage equine competitions with her horse Baroncelli, aka Bo!
Casey McNeil, PhD, MD
Dr. McNeil is from Wellington, Kansas and attended Washburn University where he received his undergrad degree in Biology. Dr. McNeil then attended the University of Kansas where he received his Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Before deciding to attend medical school, Dr. McNeil worked as a college professor and then a Title IX Investigator and Policy Author at Newman University. In 2019, Dr. McNeil graduated from the University of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita with his medical degree.
After medical school, Dr. McNeil attended his family medicine residency program at the Smoky Hill Family Residency Program, which is housed at Salina Family Healthcare Center and graduated in 2022. Dr. McNeil says, “I think that being a well-rounded physician is very important. There are lots of communities in Kansas that need doctors with a large set of skills”.
Salina Family Healthcare Center was thrilled to welcome Dr. McNeil back to serve the Salina community as a faculty physician in June 2024 and teach the Smoky Hill Family Medicine residents. Dr. McNeil says, “I enjoy discussing treatment options with the residents”.
When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. McNeil enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and occasionally going fishing. Fun fact: Dr. McNeil also is an identical twin!
Leah Peterson, MD
Dr. Leah Peterson is native to Salina, and joined the Smoky Hill Faculty after graduating residency in 2015. Prior to residency, Dr. Peterson received both her Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and her medical degree from the University of Kansas. Dr. Peterson is a member of the AAFP, KAFP, and the Saline County Medical Society. She is admittedly the nerdiest of the faculty. Outside of teaching, her special interests in medicine include women’s and children’s health, inpatient medicine, LGBTQ+ care, HIV and Hepatitis C management, and evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Peterson is married to Jake Peterson, a District Court Judge (and former Swedish Folk Dancer), who loves Star Wars and wears a lot of green ties. They have two adorable children, one dog, a few chickens and geese, and two beehives. In her spare time, Dr. Peterson enjoys cardio, cooking, gardening, beekeeping, reading, getting Jake to help her build stuff, and crafty pursuits.
Martha Riese, MD
Dr. Martha Riese received dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in Nutritional Sciences and Food Science from Kansas State University in 2010. She then graduated from The University of Kansas School of Medicine, and went on to complete her residency training at Smoky Hill. She joined the faculty in 2019. Dr. Riese is a member of the AAFP, KAFP, and the Saline County Medical Society. Her medical interests include women and children’s health, wound care, and obesity and nutritional medicine.
Dr. Riese grew up on a farm near Salina. She is happily married and has four children. In her spare time, Dr. Riese enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and doing outdoor activities.
Abbey Rupe, MD
Dr. Abbey Rupe joined Smoky Hill as an Associate Director and faculty Pediatrician in 2015. Dr Rupe received her Bachelors of Arts in Microbiology from the University of Kansas in 2001. She then received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita in 2005. During her medical education, Dr. Rupe was inducted in to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Rupe then went on to complete her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine- Wichita where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Rupe grew up in Minden, NE. She is married to Dr. Chris Rupe, a general surgeon. They have two children. In her spare time, Dr. Rupe enjoys running, reading, spending time with family, and volunteering in the community.
Dr. Rupe is an active member of the AAP, KAAP, and the Saline County Medical Society.
Support Staff
Krista Galvan
Krista grew up in Hoisington, Kansas. She moved to Salina after high school to attend Salina Area Technical College. Krista was hired on by SFHC right after graduation in 2004. She moved to the residency world in February of 2018. Krista has a passion for our mission of providing care in rural Kansas and helping the underserved.
Away from work Krista enjoys being a boy mom to her two boys. They enjoy going to the lake, fitness, outdoor activities and cheering on the Royals and Kansas City Chiefs.
Taylor Cox
Taylor, Residency Support Specialist, grew up in Salina, KS and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Taylor's journey in the medical field began in 2012, and after several rewarding years, as a medical assistant, a desire for change emerged while staying connected with Salina Family Health Center. This new role allows Taylor to engage with the Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency program and collaborate with our Residency Program Manager, esteemed faculty providers, and our 15 residents. Taylor is looking forward to providing a fresh perspective on the vital work being done within our program.
One of Taylor's favorite aspects of the job is immersing in the intricacies of the Residency program. The collaborative and supportive environment at Salina Family & Smoky Hill creates lasting connections with coworkers, residents, and doctors—connections Taylor cherishes deeply. Taylor still stays in touch with many past residency graduates and colleagues and looks forward to building even more meaningful relationships in this new role.
Since rejoining SFHC in 2023, Taylor is eager to learn how the Residency program operates. Outside of work, Taylor enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their two kids. They love attending their children’s sporting events and making family outings a priority. Every Friday, you can find them at a local Mexican restaurant, enjoying good food and great company. Taylor is also a huge Chiefs football fan and can often be found with a Kindle app open, diving into the latest read.
